Comparing three directions before coding improved the result

I asked for three clearly different visual directions, chose one, and only then moved into components. The first implementation had fewer generic dashboard patterns and needed much less restyling.

The comparison step helped me too, especially when each direction had a different density and navigation model instead of just a different accent color.

Exactly. Naming the trade-off for each direction made the choice feel deliberate rather than cosmetic.
